Weighing less than 1 oz, there's no reason not to have the Überleben Leicht. This fire starter is ideal for everyday carry or as a backup in your fire kit. It comes with a mil - spec 550 paracord neck lanyard (about 34' / 86cm) that has a secure clasp, a metal scraper, and a 5/16' thick and 1.25' long ferrocerium rod. You can easily adjust the length of the neck lanyard by cutting and burning the paracord inside the clasp. While it may not be the most efficient fire starter we offer, its small size makes it a reliable option when you need a fire the most. The Sånft - korr™ micro ferrocerium rod (1.25' x 5/16') can yield up to 12,000 strikes at any altitude and in any weather. It's perfect for daily use, backpacking, bushcraft, hunting, or survival situations. Weighing just 1 oz, it's extremely portable.

Using the Überleben Leicht fire starter is easy. First, take out the metal scraper and scrape it against the ferrocerium rod. This will create sparks that can be used to start a fire. For the neck lanyard, if it's too long, you can simply cut the paracord and burn the end to prevent it from fraying. When using the fire starter, make sure you're in a safe area away from flammable materials. Avoid getting the ferrocerium rod wet as it may reduce its effectiveness. To maintain the fire starter, keep it dry and store it in a cool place. If the rod gets dirty, you can clean it gently with a dry cloth.
