To turn it on, simply press the button. You can switch between different settings like dimming, strobe, and red night - vision easily. When using the red night - vision, you don't need to cycle through the white mode. Remember to activate the digital lock mode when you store it in your pack or pocket to avoid accidental use. This headlamp is waterproof, but it's still a good idea to dry it thoroughly after getting wet. If you notice the headband getting dirty, you can gently clean it.
