Product Detail

The Kayland K4 GTX boots are the ultimate choice for high - altitude mountaineering. They're perfect for conquering challenging terrains and ice at altitudes up to 4000 m, where the climate is extremely harsh. With full crampon compatibility, these boots are great for glacier crossings and ice climbing. They're highly durable, boasting the most innovative thermal and component technologies in the Kayland collection. UPPER: The boot features a new eye - catching graphic that matches its high - end technical features. The redesigned pattern resembles other models in the range, creating a distinct stylistic continuity with the new logo and pictogram visible on both sides. The fascia around the boot and the toe box are made with Diamond Technology on the outside. This exclusive polyurethane component offers unparalleled abrasion resistance and a larger protective area. The inner surface has added rubber for better protection against crampon wear and tear. There are also protective gaiters and an Easy Zip waterproof closure. LINING: Inside, there's a Gore - Tex® Duratherm lining, one of the best thermally insulating liners in the Gore range. It keeps your feet dry, warm, and breathable even in freezing temperatures, enhancing comfort inside the boot. SOLE: The boots have an accentuated arch support for better braking when descending and improved grip on rocks. The Vibram® Teton sole is specifically designed for mountaineering and ice climbing. The full zones on the toe and heel provide extra grip and boost safety, while the grippy compound maintains excellent traction in all conditions and on all surfaces. MIDSOLE AND INSOLE: The polyurethane outsole block has a two - tone design in the brand's colors. The rear heel for crampon insertion is set and glued into the midsole for a more secure and stable grip. The mounting footbed is made of fiberglass with aluminium foil for maximum rigidity, especially when used with crampons. The midsole uses an exclusive technology with the Smart PU component, a polyurethane compound that adjusts to temperature changes. It hardens in the heel area in cold weather and softens in milder conditions for better cushioning while walking. LACING SYSTEM: The K4 GTX comes with a new lacing system that allows maximum adjustment based on your needs. The tongue has an overlap closure with a single gusset to fully wrap your feet. There are three levels of closure: a lace puller to keep the fit constant, an intermediate lace closure, and at the top, a Velcro and microfibre strap. The outer polyamide gaiter has a waterproof heat - sealed zip closure. Using your Kayland K4 GTX mountaineering boots is straightforward. First, choose the right size from the 4 - 12.5 UK range (including half - sizes). When putting them on, use the new lacing system. Start by adjusting the lace puller to get an anatomical fit, then secure the intermediate lace closure, and finally fasten the Velcro and microfibre strap at the top. This will ensure your feet are well - wrapped and comfortable. When you're out on a high - altitude climb or a glacier crossing, the boots' full crampon compatibility will come in handy. Make sure the crampons are properly attached to the rear heel area of the boots for a stable grip. As for maintenance, after each use, remove any dirt or debris from the boots. You can use a soft brush to clean the upper part, especially the areas made of fabric and polyurethane. If the boots get wet, let them dry naturally at room temperature; avoid using direct heat sources as they can damage the materials, like the Gore - Tex® lining. Check the laces regularly for any signs of wear and tear. Replace them if needed to maintain the effectiveness of the lacing system. Also, inspect the sole for any excessive wear. If the Vibram® Teton sole shows significant signs of damage, it might be time to consider getting a new pair of boots. In cold weather, the Smart PU component in the midsole will harden in the heel area to provide better support. In milder weather, it softens for more cushioning. Just enjoy your hikes, and these boots will adapt to different conditions to keep you comfortable and safe.
